Sage, did you ever find out what that mystery flower was - the white one with the "legs" that Iris and Dave gave you? If not, I found it. It's a spider lily. I happened to be perusing one of the flower books you gave me for Christmas and saw it in there plain as day. Now, I'm always used to seeing the red ones that have a cluster of flowers at the top that bloom in the fall. But apparently there are several different varieties, because a google search for spider lily brings up all kinds of different looking flowers, but they all have the "legs" on them. They are part of the amaryllidaceae family, which I guess would explain why you thought they were amaryllis at first.
