WALTERBORO, S.C. — Authorities say three people have been killed and five injured in a shooting in a small town west of Charleston.

Barry McRoy, director of Colleton County Fire and EMS, confirmed to The Post and Courier of Charleston that eight people were treated and three of them died in the shooting late Monday. The newspaper reported it happened at a house in Walterboro, about 40 miles west of Charleston.

A call to McRoy by The Associated Press was not immediately returned early Tuesday.

The Walterboro Police Department is investigating. A dispatcher told AP that investigators are at the scene and not available to comment. Colleton County police referred all calls to Walterboro officials.

Wow, they didn't say why it happened or anything? I know Barry - his wife was my sixth grade science teacher.

Here's what I know.
It was gang related (two of the several gangs we have here)
Everyone was outside playing cards when the drive by occured.

That's it..that's all I know. Didn't check the news this morning to see if anyone had been arrested for it yet.

Now...the news is currently saying it was 'NOT' gang related, ..so who knows.
They DID catch the guy who did the shooting yesterday..

From what I understand, there was another shooting last night. Did you hear anything about that?

Sounds like things are getting rough in your neck of the woods.

Well..here's the scoop as I know it.

It IS gang related, having to do with 'money being owed'..along with a few other things. There was a second shooting last night, both individuals are in hospital care.

The police force have started a major shakedown here in the area, with help from SLED, BAFT and even state marshalls. Don't know how long they will be in town keeping it up, but they've added a total of 50 personel or more to the force (temporarily mind you) to continue with this 'shake down' to get the 'thugs' rounded up or at least under control.

Will it work? probably not. The thugs will hang low till the 'extra' manpower in town leaves, then they'll start all over again.
As one of our good friends says..."If the county wasn't such a 'hug a thug' place, this may never have happened, but due to "current' items, the county has to 'hug a thug'.
